Hi Everyone. Here are a few things that have been done this year.
We have made a lot of upgrades onto his truck this year and we have attended the majority of the pulls this year. To say the least this year was a learning experience. Above is a picture of the engine right now as we stand. We will be adding a few more upgrades this winter including: water injection, a new bigger turbo, a billet cam, front lockers, a new weight box, and 3 new batteries. Currently we have upgraded the bottom end of the motor with 14mm main studs, a new 12 valve crank and balanced the rotating assembly. The pistons have been milled .060 and have been coated. We have stripped all the electronics off of it and added a P-pump to the truck which made it so we had to build a new front gear housing and do a few modifications to the block to accept the new mechanical injection pump. The injection lines, the injectors and the injection pump were all custom built by Scheid Diesel out of Indiana. We currently have a large Garrett turbo with 3.0 inducer, so that we could run in the DHRA Pro Mod Class. We converted the truck from a 48RE automatic transmission to a new 5 speed transmission with a triple disc clutch from South Bend. Doing this also made it so we had to install a new transfer case that would mate up to the new 5 speed. We upgraded the trucks fuel system with a new 45 psi FASS pump, 1/2" fuel lines, and a 1/2" pickup tube in the fuel tank so we could get enough fuel to the new injection pump. We put 2-12 inch electric fans to help keep up with the cooling and to free up some power and space for the custom tach sensor. We just barely got done modifying the frame, which consisted of removing the rear springs and welding the rear differential in solid. We also put some new Mickey Thompson Baja Claw tires and new wheels, which also might get changed this next year for pulling tires.
